COMMITTEES

The Friends of the Wimberley Village Library has seven standing committees. Temporary committees will be created as needed for specific projects. The standing committes are:

Book Sales
The Book Sales Committee is responsible for organizing book sales, which will generate funds for the Friends and Library events, special events and services. Lynda Blakistone, Chair

Budget
The Budget Committee is charged with planning the budget of the FOWVL for the upcoming year. The chair of this committee is always the current treasurer of the Board. Ruth Freeman (Treasurer), Chair

Garden
The Garden Committee is a new standing committee established in 2011 as a result of outdoor donations given in honor of an individual, living or deceased. This committee is charged with planning for future development of the area behind the building designated as "Friends Memorial/Dedication Garden," reviewing all requests for gifts, and procuring all landscape and hardscape additions to the garden. Carolyn Manning, Chair

Membership
The Membership Committee will handle recruitment programs for the Friends of the Wimberley Village Library, maintain membership records, and provide an accurate and up-to-date roster of all members of FOWVL, and organize the Annual Member's Meeting. Kathie Parker, Chair

Publicity
The Publicity Committee will inform the public about all upcoming Friends events and services through newspaper articles, the webpage, and occasional mailers, as well as publish the FOWVL newsletter biannually and send it to all members. Kathleen Goodson & Roseann Mandziuk, Co-Chairs

Special Events
The Special Events Committee is charged with directing any of the special events of FOWVL as well as helping the library plan and execute their special events. Kathie Parker, Chair

Volunteers and Youth Activities
The Volunteers and Youth Services Committee is in charge of recruiting volunteers, and helping the Library plan events and create services for the youth in the Wimberley Village Library District. They also plan and organize the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon and Youth Volunteer Party. Tonda Frady & Kathleen Goodson, Co-Chairs

Historian (Not a "standing committee", but an appointed position that need not necessarily be staffed by a member of the Board).
The Historian is charged with keeping a record, both written and in pictures (when appropriate), of all important events of the Board of Directors of FOWVL. These include those in which the Board participates with the Library, as well as with the community. The person charged by the Board with this responsibility is currently: Kathleen Young.

All members of FOWVL are encouraged and welcomed to be members of any of the committees.
