OFFICER’S REPORTS

Treasurer’s Report: Ruth Freeman (treasurer) reported that the current balance was $4,185.10. The total income for January 1st – February 17th 2007 was $400.67(net income: $242.12)

Corresponding Secretary’s Report: Ria Hodgson (corresponding secretary) reported that thank you letters had been sent to all new members who have joined: 11/06-2/15/07

Change of Meeting Date: There was a vote on whether the meeting date should remain on the third Saturday of each month or move to the second Saturday. Lynda Blakistone motioned to move to change the regular monthly meetings to the second Saturday of each month. Nancy Marlette seconded the motion, and it carried.

Membership Renewal: There was a discussion on the issue of membership renewal (if all memberships must be renewed on a set date, e.g. Jan. 1st, members who joined in December of the previous year do not receive the same length of membership as those who joined in February of the previous year). It was suggested that we should ask the Wimberley Players about their membership policy (which assigns membership for the following year to those who join in the latter half of the previous year).

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Volunteer Committee: The Volunteer Committee is still sending birthday cards/thank yous to the volunteers. They are planning the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, which will be Thursday, May 3rd from 12-2 at the Lutheran Church. It will be catered (they are still looking for a caterer). The theme will be: Volunteer’s Plant Seeds of Kindness, with a focus on spring. Sue Byrne will be taking care of the program.

They need all Friends Board members who are NOT volunteers to help serve if they can. The next Volunteer Committee meeting will be March 1st.

Book Sales Committee: The Giving Tree program has contributed 25 new titles to the library collection and hope to continue the program throughout the year. Please talk to Lynda if you are interested in participating. Starting about a month ago Tita Owre has started selling some of the Library’s donated book sale books on eBay. To date the net profit is approximately $223. Mike Schliessmann has volunteered to be in charge of selling our more valuable book sets on Craig’s list if they receive acceptable prices. If they can’t get good prices for the collections they will sell on eBay. There will be a book sale on Saturday April 14th at Chapel in the Hills. The members of the book sale committee are looking for volunteers to help with the sorting of books into categories on Thursday, March 22nd starting at 9am.

Also, they are working on a publicity for the book sale (banners, posters, and radio) and they welcome any ideas. The book sale goal is $2000.
