NEW BUSINESS:

Murder in the Vatican:  Sue Byrne announced that she knew the agent, Anita, of an author who had written a controversial, self-published book, Murder in the Vatican.  The agent was wondering if the Friends of the Wimberley Village Library would consider sponsoring a book signing in Wimberley in July 2007.

There was discussion about how the Friends of the Wimberley Village Library would go about this and the many options that there were to provide money.  It was estimated that securing a venue at the community center and arranging a book signing would cost the Friends between $200-$300.

There was much discussion about sponsoring a book signing and whether the Friends should do it at the library or the community center, and an informal vote was taken.  Suzy Valadez moved that the Friends not participate at all, but that Anita should ask SuzAnne Beard and Carolyn Manning if she wanted to have the book signing at the library.  Nicole Royal amended the motion by saying that the author should have to go through all the same channels as all the other authors.  Mike Schliessmann seconded the motion, and it passed.  There was one vote that abstained, and one negative vote.

The Friends of the Wimberley Village Library adjourned at 11:15 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Melody Valadez
